I am a Gainesville native with over a decade of public service to my country and community. From patrolling the streets of Iraq to maintaining the streets of Gainesville, I have always been on the frontline of direct action for the betterment of society.

Now I want to take my tip-of-the-spear experience to the Gainesville City Commission.

Wyatt Zintiz

Wyatt Zintiz is a life-long resident of Gainesville with over a decade of public service to his country and his community. Born in Tampa Bay, he moved to Gainesville at the age of seven and attended Stephen Foster Elementary, Fort Clarke Middle, and Buchholz High schools during his childhood. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as an infantry rifleman and later rifle team leader. During his enlistment he participated in two combat deployments for Operation Iraqi Freedom.

After his term of service in the military he returned home to Gainesville and obtained a B.A. in Political Science from Santa Fe College and the University of Central Florida. Shortly after graduating he met the woman who would become his wife and partner of 11 years, Ashley Zintiz. Ash originally came to Gainesville from Miami to attend the University of Florida and like many graduates she ended up never leaving! They immediately fell madly in love with one another and married in 2021 at the famous Sweetwater Branch Inn in historic downtown Gainesville. Together they have two beautiful children and live in a townhome in Northwest Gainesville.

Wyatt eventually joined Gainesville’s Public Works Department and quickly distinguished himself by achieving multiple certifications, joining and later leading the operations division’s safety council, and gaining two promotions in five years. Unfortunately, Wyatt had to step away from that particular career of public service after the near-death of his wife during the birth of their second child in December of 2024. While Ash ultimately made a full recovery, Wyatt recognized that he needed to prioritize his family and their wellbeing.

Currently, Wyatt is a stay-at-home dad and on the weekends runs a sustainable landscaping business that uses only battery-powered equipment. In his spare time he enjoys cycling, crocheting, writing, and spending time with his close friends and loved ones. Beside his more prominent acts of service, Wyatt also contributes to local charitable organizations such as Keep Alachua County Beautiful, the Gainesville Opportunity Center, and FEED GNV.
